SUMMARY:Belonging in Uncertain Times: International Students and the 2026 E
 lections in Saxony-Anhalt
DESCRIPTION:Friedensau Adventist University stands out in Saxony-Anhalt as 
 an institution of higher learning with a very high proportion of students 
 and staff from the Global South. The University’s diversity exposes it t
 o the AfD’s political ideology\, which is strongly anti-migrant. The con
 cern is not only how the University strategically positions itself in resp
 onse to potential post-election political influence on academic work\, but
  also how it can safeguard its international students and staff before\, d
 uring\, and after the state elections in September 2026. During election p
 eriods\, tensions are likely to arise\, which can sometimes lead to politi
 cally motivated or hate-related crimes.\n\nThe event brings together persp
 ectives from migrant and anti-fascist civil society organisations\, the po
 lice\, and politicians to discuss the potential impact of the elections in
  Saxony-Anhalt on the everyday lives of students of colour. Invited guests
  include the Landesnetzwerk Migrantenorganisationen Sachsen-Anhalt (LAMSA)
  e.V.\, Mobile Opferberatung\, representatives of the police from Burg\, a
 nd a mayor from the Jerichower Land district.
