Tech-Fascism

Vor Ort

As part of a seminar on media technologies of organization, we are using the occassion of the action week to talk about tech-fascism. This is a recent term that tries to make sense of how contemporary digital media technologies, and their associated knowledges, practices and ideologies, are entangled with fascist organizing. We will explore to what extend contemporary tech, in many ways emanating from Silicon Valley, has fascist tendencies (or more than that), taking generative AI as an example. We will also explore some of the ideologies that drive tech development, and how they are often explicitly fascist. To prepare, please read: Toscano, Alberto.
